At the Symposium Zukunft Wärme 2026 in Marburg, Christoph, together with Christoph Trinkl from the Technische Hochschule Ingolstadt, presented current work from the INTERSTORES project in the Workshop „Monitoring von Großwärmespeichern in der Praxis – Erfahrungsaustausch“ (EN: “Monitoring of Large Thermal Energy Storages in Practice – Exchange of Experience”).
The presentation focused on practical experience regarding the selection of suitable measurement technology and the installation of sensor systems for large-scale thermal energy storage facilities. In particular, challenges and insights from the ongoing demonstration and research project INTERSTORES were presented.
During the subsequent discussions at several thematic tables, key questions regarding existing and future monitoring concepts were addressed: Which measurement technologies are essential for the long-term operation and evaluation of large thermal energy storage systems? Which organizational and financial boundary conditions need to be considered? And how can collaboration in interdisciplinary projects be managed most effectively?

The event provided a valuable platform for exchange between research, planning, and practice, highlighting the importance of robust monitoring strategies for the further development of large-scale thermal energy storage systems.
