Almost 30 % of the agricultural land in Mansfeld-Südharz is threatened by water erosion: These and other topics were discussed on 26 June 2025 at the 2nd SMART Agroforestry Day of our SMART Agroforestry project at the castle in Roßla (municipality of Südharz).
More than 70 stakeholders from business, science and administration came together for the event. They talked about the potential of woody plants and agroforestry systems to strengthen climate resilience in the area, but also as a source of raw materials for future value chains in green chemistry and construction with renewable raw materials. Various aspects of the project were presented as part of an exhibition. During the subsequent excursion, the ecological and economic potential was then discussed using real examples of groves and agroforestry systems in the Mansfeld-Südharz district.
