On 23 May 2025, Dr Muhammad Usman from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU), with the support of Dr Murod Sultanov from Urgench State University, Uzbekistan, presented the Droughtmap-ASB tool to the scientific staff of the Scientific Research Centre for Water Problems of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The meeting took place in the city of Urgench and brought together experts and technical staff to explore innovative solutions for drought monitoring and regional water resource management.
The event was organised as part of the Green Central Asia – Phase II initiative, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and coordinated by GIZ Uzbekistan. The demonstration of the tools emphasised the possibilities of real-time drought monitoring, spatial analysis capabilities and the integration of remote sensing indicators such as NDVI and ESI to improve climate resilience and decision-making in water management.
The interactive session also facilitated dialogue on potential national applications and adaptation of the tool to local hydrological challenges.
