The kick-off event for the ELER- project in the Nedlitz lowlands took place in Zerbst/Anhalt on 24 April 2026. The event was organised by the project team from the Department of Geoecology, supported by the “Zerbst blüht auf” e. V. initiative, which also kindly provided the premises for the meeting.
The kick-off event was attended by 25 stakeholders from specialist authorities in Saxony-Anhalt, the town of Anhalt/Zerbst, the lower environmental authority of the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district, regional representatives from agriculture, nature conservation and the “Fläming” nature park administration.
After the presentation of the project team and the planned measures in the Nedlitzer Niederung, the subsequent discussion showed the great interest of those present in the first project for the rewetting of an agriculturally utilised fen in Saxony-Anhalt. The initiative “Zerbst blüht auf” e. V. also presented plans for the rewetting of a bog in a neighbouring catchment area (Rathsbruch). Close cooperation and support was agreed between the two projects.
The next interim goal in the project is the completion of the measuring field, which is scheduled for September.
