Cheyenne Wolf’s JTC sub-project investigates how vacant buildings in the Central German mining district are informally appropriated, affectively and emotionally experienced and “utilised” “under the radar” by different actors during transitional phases. Spatial perceptions and practices are analysed, taking social factors into account, while informal and alternative forms of participation in structural change through the creation of spaces for expression, representation, living and remembrance are examined.
