The exploration and utilization of the ground at depths of several kilometres for geothermal use represents a timely area of research involving multifaceted scientific questions. Our focus is on environmental impact assessment such as induced seismicity and coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical processes, especially in engineered geothermal systems (EGS).
