A two-day training and workshop entitled “Training on Droughtmap-ASB Tool for Central Asia and Workshop on Spatial Data Analysis” was successfully held on 21 and 22 May 2025 at Urgench State University, Uzbekistan.

The event was chaired by Dr Muhammad Usman from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (Germany) and was part of the Green Central Asia – Phase II Initiative, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and coordinated by GIZ Uzbekistan.

About 20 students and several faculty members from Urgench State University took part in the training. The participants gained practical experience with the Droughtmap-ASB tool and focussed on its application in drought monitoring and spatial data analysis for water management.

The chairman of the department warmly welcomed Dr Usman and expressed his keen interest in promoting future academic and technical cooperation in the fields of climate resilience, water resources monitoring and spatial data analysis.

The workshop was an important step for capacity building and academic collaboration in the region and contributed to stronger regional engagement on climate and water issues.
