Wirkstatt Nachhaltigkeit (Wirkstatt Nachhaltigkeit)

Project: Model project “Wirkstatt Nachhaltigkeit”

The world is changing. Children and young people want to shape it for the better and are looking for solutions to global problems. These should be ecologically justifiable, economically viable and socially acceptable. What must the school of tomorrow offer so that pupils can better develop creativity, independent thinking, empathy and a sense of citizenship?

The school experiment WIRKSTATT NACHHALTIGKEIT is intended to offer pupils the opportunity and tools to develop creative solutions in their personal environment – for a more sustainable world.
It is made up of the sub-projects “Campus-N”, “InnoLab-N” and “Network-N”.

Scientific counselling in the “InnoLab-N” school trial

Prof Lindau is a scientific advisor to the “InnoLab-N” sub-project in the “Wirkstatt Nachhaltigkeit” school experiment.

As part of InnoLab-N, innovative learning settings are to be developed within the regular lessons of secondary schools, business schools, secondary modern schools and grammar schools that promote the acquisition of transformation skills in the sense of education for sustainable development (ESD). This includes making the timetable more flexible in order to create more time for problem- and project-oriented work in interdisciplinary, inter-class and inter-year groups, testing new learning locations/learning environments inside and outside of school, expanding learning support and performance assessment formats and ensuring broad student participation in all phases of InnoLab-N’s development.

Prof Lindau is to be involved in her advisory activities:

  • support the project management in conceptual and content-related questions
  • conduct individual consultations with the 12 model schools
  • take part in meetings of the project advisory board
  • prepare contributions for publications
  • Contribute to the multiplication of interim results
  • Participate in events as part of the school trial by giving presentations and advising teachers
