From 8 to 12 June 2026, the World Geothermal Congress 2026 (WGC2026) took place in Calgary, Canada. The congress is regarded as the world’s leading international event in the field of geothermal energy, bringing together researchers, industry representatives, and policy makers from around the globe.
In several contributions, the Applied Geology Group presented current research on seasonal thermal energy storage, the modelling of subsurface energy systems, and the environmental assessment of thermal energy storage technologies.
