Recently, my research has focused on data center expansion in the Berlin–Brandenburg region. In a collaborative research effort, we analyzed its impacts on the local electrical grid, as well as the spatial and organizational dynamics of new heating networks that utilize data center waste heat. In addition, we investigated how the data center boom in the region has enabled new speculative practices around grid connections and land, as well as the entry of new actors into the field.
