The Meu Corre App is an academic and technological initiative that has been developed since 2019 in collaboration with motorcycle couriers and delivery workers. Its primary objective is to foster financial management practices and to provide workers with deeper insights into the labor conditions assembled by digital platforms. The project originated from the observation of WhatsApp groups of workers in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), during which collaborative actions were carried out, such as the creation of shared maps. From this experience, it became evident that centralizing dispersed information and generating aggregated data on the activity constitute a means of fostering reterritorialization in the face of platforms control. Guided by co-creation methodologies, the tool was designed with functionalities such as goal setting, income and expense tracking, data export and performance indicators, which include earnings per hour, per kilometer, and idle time. It also incorporates a geolocation module to calculate total distance traveled, measure idle time, and generate circulation maps in urban space.
The project is coordinated by the geographer Igor Vecchia and the UX designer Cristiano Dalbem. Its development combined qualitative research, which involved interviews, focus groups and prototype testing, with technical cycles supported by public funding calls and institutional partnerships, in a process that culminated in the public launch of the application in April 2024.
The Meu Corre App not only provides individual support to workers but also serves as a methodological research tool. By anonymizing and processing records, it generates comparable evidence that both strengthens public debate and supports leaders, associations, researchers, and activists in developing analyses and public policies on platform labor. The project upholds an ethical commitment to transparency and data restitution to workers, bringing together scientific rigor, social impact, and the construction of digital counter-infrastructures aimed at reinforcing workers’ autonomy and collective action.
