Background and goals
Turkmenistan is severely affected by climate change and faces major challenges. Emissions of methane and other greenhouse gases are causing feedbacks in the atmosphere. The government of Turkmenistan recognises the urgency of the global climate crisis and is taking action at international and national level. The country has signed the Paris Agreement and committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 20 % by 2030. Turkmenistan is also participating in the Global Methane Pledge. Key national strategies for climate policy and the promotion of renewable energies have already been developed and their implementation is now being driven forward.
- Establishing an effective dialogue on energy, climate and environmental partnerships between the EU and Turkmenistan.
- Supporting the implementation of international and EU-wide best practices and standards.
- Development and implementation of capacity building programmes for adaptation measures.
We are always looking for experts in the fields of renewable energy, methane emission reduction and various environmental aspects (e.g. wastewater management).
