Agroforestry expert forum – from the past to the future

Post: Project : Agroforestry expert forum – from the past to the future

On 16.06. and 17.06.2025, the “Agroforestry Expert Forum” organised by the Geoecology Working Group and the Bund Heimat und Umwelt Deutschland took place at MLU. The main topic of the workshop with around 30 participants was “From the past to the future” and was particularly important for the two DiP projects “SMART Agroforestry” (contact person: Jan Lukas Wenzel) and “FaiReSyst” (contact person: Dr Julia Pöhlitz).

The event looked at historical and current agroforestry systems and their significance for modern agriculture, for biodiversity and for shaping the environment. Good examples of networking stakeholders and communicating the topic were also presented as part of an excursion. In terms of content, the expert forum highlighted the ecological, social and economic added value of agroforestry, possibilities for cooperation between stakeholders and regional marketing. Together with various stakeholders from agriculture, research, associations and organisations, the results were presented in a generally understandable way and recommendations were formulated. We from the Geoecology Working Group would like to thank the German Federation for Home and Environment for the organisation and the opportunity to participate and look forward to future collaboration.
