Microscopy: 3D digital microscope VHX 5000 Keyence

The 3D digital microscope currently has four different lenses that cover a magnification range from 0x to 5000x. In addition to the classic incident and transmitted light function of polarisation microscopy, it is also possible to image the surfaces of objects in high resolution in three dimensions - either as a single image or, if necessary, as a video. The system also has control software with extensive image analysis tools, which are available both via the console pad and via mouse and keyboard input, as well as a turntable that can also be moved in the x-y direction via console or mouse control. The latter, as well as the objectives including the camera, are individually height-adjustable in the z-direction and the microscope's objective holder can be generously swivelled in order to observe objects laterally even at very flat angles (± 90°). The microscope also has a ring light adapter.

  • Optical characterisation of the sample properties of almost all materials with simultaneous analysis of the chemical composition (EDX)
  • Recording of element distribution images (mapping)
  • Investigation of growth zones (cathodoluminescence)
  • Porosity determination
  • Material and material characterisation
