Spectrometer: Infrared Fourier spectrometer Tensor II

Molecular vibrations and rotations are stimulated by absorption of radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum. The energy required depends on the mass of the atoms involved and the binding forces. Different functional groups absorb at different known frequencies (fingerprint of a substance in the IR spectrum). The FT-IR method makes it possible to measure all frequencies of a wide IR range simultaneously. 5-20 mg of sample are pressed into a tablet with 300 mg of LiBr and inserted into the spectrometer at the height of the light beam using a holding device.
