The Halogen Moisture Analyser determines the moisture content of a sample thermogravimetrically. The change in sample mass is continuously determined during the drying process. The starting weight is determined first. The analysed weight loss corresponds to the moisture content of the sample. Halogen drying enables faster measurements (in around 3-10 minutes) than comparable tests in a drying oven, in which the sample is heated by convection. The halogen radiator heats the sample by absorbing infrared radiation. Halogen technology enables the sample surface to be heated evenly and the maximum heating power to be reached more quickly than with conventional IR technology. In addition, the device works on the principle of the switch-off criterion, whereby the user has the choice between a time-controlled switch-off or weight reduction per time unit. The switch-off criterion is used to determine when the measurement should be automatically terminated and the result displayed.
